Medicare Pays 100%
|

For qualified patients, Medicare pays 100% of allowable charges for the home health services from Americare In-Home Nursing. There is no deductible, co-pay, or any other out-of-pocket expense. Medicaid pays allowable charges less a small per visit co-pay (usually $3). Americare's skilled services must be authorized by your doctor. We will coordinate with your doctor directly. Patients must need the skilled services of a nurse or therapist on an intermittent basis. Medicaid does not require home health patients to be homebound, but Medicare does require home health patients to meet the homebound criteria. This only means that patients have difficulty leaving the home and that trips outside the home are, therefore, infrequent and of short duration. People can be temporarily homebound as they recover from an accident or illness. Trips to church, the doctor's office, and even the barber do not necessarily disqualify a person from being homebound. Trips to special events like a graduation or wedding also do not disqualify a person from being homebound. People who require the assistance of another person or of a device such as a walker qualify as homebound under Medicare's definition. |
